Large Gulestan Doll
In Khowar language a “doll” is called “kalbuki”. We have chosen Scottish traditional and Pakistani Kalasha style dolls to celebrate the collaboration between Scotland and Pakistan. We know that you will love them either as gifts for children to play with or as collectors’ items or home décor.
Gulestan lives in the Birir valley in Kalash. Her name means “the land of flowers”. She is a free spirited and a kind hearted girl. She works for the betterment of her community. Gulestan embodies confidence, hope and justice.
Kalasha are among the indigenous groups in Northern Pakistan, representing one of the oldest minority cultures dating back to at least 3000 years. They have a unique language and cultural heritage.
The Kalbuki dolls are all exquisitely embroidered, bearing the name of the artisan(s) who made it, bringing you a personalised link with the beneficiary of your support.
